A Brief History of
St. Mary's School
oday education is the primary means of social reformation.
Keeping the present trend in mind on 28th February 1928, the R. C.
Mission Primary School was established at Rangaipura village of Petlad town.
The School was shifted to Mariampura in the year 1932. It
was officially registered and recognized by the state government in the year
1951 by the registration no. 51-1951 with a hope of reaching till higher
secondary. Primarily the school was named as "Arogyamata Vidhyalaya"
later on as "St. Mary's High School".
With the increasing demand of the people and situation for
secondary education, it was under the efficient leadership of Rev. Fr. Bastones SJ, Parish Priest of Mariampura
of that time, began secondary section in the year 1960 named the school as
"St. Mary's High School".
In 1984 the school celebrated her Silver Jubilee by that time,
she had gained special name in education and discipline in and around Anand
district.
In 1987, with the introduction of the higher secondary
section, St. Mary's School opened courses in Arts and Commerce. In the year
2004, the school started a well equipped modern computer centre.
St. Mary's School progressed slowly but steadily. Today the
school stands first in Petlad Taluka, in exam results, sports, co-curricular
activities etc. As St. Mary's School celebrates her Golden Jubilee, she would
like to express her deep gratitude to all the former and present managers,
principals, teachers, parents, benefactors and students.
